The sculpture “Origine” by Maria Cristina Carlini in the permanent exhibition of the Horti

The art collection of Horti Almo Collegio Borromeo in Pavia has been enriched with a new monumental work: Origine (2019) by the sculptor Maria Cristina Carlini, which now becomes part of the park’s permanent exhibition path.

The artwork, granted on loan through the Fondazione Maria Cristina Carlini ETS, is installed near the urban entrance of the Horti, in a key passage point for visitors.

Composed of seven polychrome stoneware columns, over three meters high and created using mixed techniques, Origine develops vertically in direct dialogue with the surrounding trees. The multiple ceramic discs that form it, each individually crafted by the artist, create a vibrant material surface, marked by chromatic variations that evoke a totemic and primordial dimension.

Within the Horti, Origine engages in dialogue with the contemporary artworks, the landscape, and the ethical dimension that characterizes the park’s project, a place where culture intertwines with practices of social inclusion and community care.
