Maria Cristina Carlini

Sculptor Maria Cristina Carlini presents a solo exhibition curated by Flaminio Gualdoni at Villa Recalcati, a venue representing the sculptural tradition of Varese, from July 22 to August 26.
In the park, monumental sculptures emerge, while inside the villa visitors can admire works of large and medium dimensions, created with different materials: from Corten steel to resin and stoneware, from wood to iron.
The exhibition features several previously unseen works created specifically for the event, alongside pieces made between 2004 and 2012, representative of the intense artistic career and the long sculptural journey of Maria Cristina Carlini.
The exhibition, conceived and organized by the Province of Varese at its headquarters, is part of the event curated by Flaminio Gualdoni, “Scultori a Villa Recalcati” (Sculptors at Villa Recalcati). Maria Cristina Carlini— the only female presence — concludes the three-year exhibition cycle.
The solo exhibitions of the three-year program include Gio’ Pomodoro, Giancarlo Sangregorio, Vittorio Tavernari, Nino Cassani, and Maria Cristina Carlini—artists connected to the area by birth or training—and serve as a prelude to the creation of a permanent sculpture collection in the park of Villa Recalcati.
