Maria Cristina Carlini “Obelisco” on permanent display in Piazza Berlinguer, Milan
Curated by Flaminio Gualdoni
Maria Cristina Carlini donates her monumental sculpture Obelisco (2015) to the city of Milan, permanently exhibited in Piazza Berlinguer.
Obelisco, characterized by a strong vertical thrust with a height exceeding 4 metres, is made with reclaimed wood and Corten steel. The wooden core with holes, curves and fractures that show its longevity and its previous use – part of an old structure used for milking cows – is surrounded by a steel covering with essential lines. It is a combination of very different materials, but which create a profound dialogue and a harmonious aesthetic balance.
The event, sponsored by the Municipality of Milan – Municipio 6 is curated by Flaminio Gualdoni.
