A diffused and immersive exhibition, displayed from 24 November to 29 March in the most important locations dedicated to the art of Pavia, celebrates the fifth centenary of Leonardo da Vinci‘s passing and explores the link between the Florentine genius and the city.
The exhibition, curated by Valerio Dehò, investigates the mysteries and legends concerning the famous figure of the Mona Lisa and offers contemporary artworks, from paintings to sculptures, from installations to multimedia displays, all linked by the essential relationship with the past, history and the great Master.
The deconsecrated church of Santa Maria Gualtieri houses the multimedia experience “Mona Lisa Who?” created by the multimedia designer Karmachina. A selection of over forty works by thirty-nine artists, who have reinterpreted in a contemporary key the masterpiece of the Mona Lisa, will be present at the Spazio Arti Contemporanee del Broletto and the Castello Visconteo. At the Castello Visconteo, it is also possible to experience the virtual tour, “The vision of Leonardo in Pavia”, a project developed by Way Experience, which plunges into the Renaissance city using augmented reality.
Created in plaster and resin by the artists Eleonora Francioni and Antonio Mastromarino the “Giant sculpture”, an imposing sculpture of five meters in height and four in diameter, is located in the Piazza del Municipio, as a tribute to Leonardo’s work.
