Il neo espressionismo di Rosalinda Celentano
Curated by Paolo Manazza e Maurizio Sciaccaluga
More than 20 works are exhibited in this first solo show by Rosalinda Celentano. Well known and beloved public character, Rosalinda has always had an uncontrollable passion for painting. The exhibition Il neo espressionismo di Rosalinda Celentano/Rosalinda Celentano’s neo-expressionism opens on 30 May in the rooms of Miniaci Art Gallery of Milan and it curated by Paolo Manazza and Maurizio Sciaccaluga.
The works on show are almost entirely never seen before – with the exception of four coming from private collections – and date back to a creative period between 1998 and today.
“Only music and art are the true effects of God”: this is the strong drive that Rosalinda conveys when she speaks of her first show.
According to the curators her expressive language has strong expressionist influences and reminds them of some German authors from the early 20th century, and also of several artists of the post-expressionism. According to Paolo Manazza the echos of portraits by Emil Nolde, Otto Dix, Alex von Jawlensky and Max Beckmann; the carnal explosions of Egon Schiele or the urban and landscape jagged fusions of Heinrich Campendonk; but also the colorful brush strokes of Edvard Munch; the oblique lights of Max Liebermann. While Maurizio Sciaccaluga gets in these works “the need that had been proper to the Transavanguardia, and the deep agony that had characterized the New wild ones such as Hòdicke, Fetting and Zimmer”.
The printed catalogue is published by ArsLife.com , the new portal directed by Paolo Manazza, and at the grand opening evening it will be on line with a first up-dated version. The critical texts are by Rachele Ferrario, Paolo Manazza and Maurizio Sciaccaluga.
