Hans Hartung. Opere scelte 1950 – 1988
Curated by Nico Orengo
A hundred years after the birth of the master of European abstract art Hans Hartung, the Mazzoleni Modern Art Gallery of Turin dedicates to him a large exhibition curated by Nico Orengo, which opened on 15 October.
The exhibition, made up of about sixty works from the ’50s to 1988, offers a range of the works of this great solitary man of the 20th century who begins to paint when is very young.
The canvases on show are made with different techniques, from oil to acrylic, from inks to vynil, and highlight the dramatic and radiant painting of Hans Hartung, where the depiction is inside the materials and its colours. It’s a painting that chases dynamism and strength resulting in great sensitivity and beauty. As though Hartung, who as a child built himself a telescope to look at the stars, didn’t do anything else but spy on the core of painting and colour, its mysterious intimacy.
