Gianfranco Meggiato. Il respiro della forma
Curated by Riccardo Ferrucci e Alessandro Romanini
A distributed exhibition of monumental sculptures animating Pisa through dialogue combining contemporary and ancient art.
Visitors will admire fourteen monumental works installed in the historic centre of the city and a significant personal show in the evocative setting of the Mediaeval Church of Santa Maria della Spina. These sculptures move even deeper into the artist’s poetics to forge an intimate relationship with visitors and the setting. They inspire reflection, introspection and launch an impelling message of peace.
Meggiato has focused for many years on social issues such as fighting the mafia, human cooperation and violence against women. His sculptures embody the concept of “intro-sculpture”, inviting us to look “inside” the work and go beyond the tortuous outer surfaces to find ourselves and our inner sphere.
