Domenica Regazzoni. Duo Trio Quartetto

Domenica Regazzoni gives life to an intimate relationship between art and music. The foyer in front of the North Gallery of the European Parliament is transformed into a scenario exhibiting the personal works of this Italian artist. There are twenty five works, incisions and mixed media collage paintings on wooden panels, created in the past ten years, which are combined in a special (exquisite) and peculiar way to create artworks which intertwine all the arts, those of sound, colour and form. The artist’s major inspiration comes from the memory of her father Dante, who passed away in 1999 and who was a great maestro and well-known violin-maker, who had inherited his art from great Italian masters like Stradivari and Amati. From this recollection, the artist felt the need to symbolically rebuild and recreate the link with her heritage expressing the strong bond with her father, but at the same time her rich imagination celebrates, in a modern interpretation the tradition of all Italian violin-makers who can be considered great craftsmen and therefore real artists. The exhibition displays works created in the years 2002-2006 where, to quote Gillo Dorfles, in one of his essays, defines them: Önot paintings but documents crafted in a familiar way, as well as independent inventions in the key of G of small wood monumentsÖ There are also more recent works exhibited, which are no longer strongly tied to the paternal bond, nevertheless, they are very poetic and highly evocative, as the artist’s skill uses the colour recalling at the same time the world of art and the world of music.
